I would be in deep trouble if I didn't mention The Bear House. Mom and I built this dollhouse from a kit many, many years ago with the intention of displaying it every Christmas. Which has remained true most years (some years I've been out of the country, and other years, like last year, I was in the process of moving). The inside of the house is furnished and occupied by a family of four bears (Mother, Father, and two children) as well as the two maiden mice who keep house and do the cooking and cleaning. There are also many visitors; bunnies, more mice, more bears, and Tigger has even put in an appearance on the roof, apparently waiting for a glimpse of Santa Claus.
This year I've place the house on a lazy susan, since the tree inside has electric lights that I'll be setting up soon. The very worn and well-loved Frosty the Snowman in the yard to the left of the house still plays his song if you wind up his base. And on the porch, a little girl and another bear sing a Christmas carol...
Oh yes, the part about the cookie malfunction...well, see for yourself what happens when you try to get overly ambitious in your decorating!
And on that note, I'll be taking a small Christmas break. May you and yours have a Merry Christmas!
