I really have a difficult time posting for WIP Friday, as I am usually wrapping up my sewing at that point in the week. My real WIP day is Monday. The day I start a bunch of projects that I wittle away at all week, until Friday when they are finally finished, ready for the weekend, which is usually spent away from home visiting friends and relatives.
An additional plus to today's project, I finally figured out how to sew the backpack from Wee Wonderful's Make-a-long Story. For some reason I could not picture what she was describing in the pattern instructions. Finally, with some advice from other flickr readers and staring intently at their finished products, I worked it out.
The end result...
I had Olive model the bag, as Archie is running around the house, wearing my first attempt at the Mailorder #4 hat (baby...and Archie...size). Photos to come when I catch him.
Also on the cutting board/sewing table...my Dad's apron, which is now a month overdue. Actually, I was on time for his birthday last month, but my dear hubby forgot his dad's birthday (a few weeks later) and thus, the apron was passed along and I had to make a new one. These are no ordinary aprons. These are camoflage aprons, for "The Man Who Doesn't Want To Be Seen In The Kitchen" (copyright 2006 madmommy designs). They're my dad's idea, but I'm the one who sews. No photos just yet, as I still have to find an 101st Airborne patch for the pocket (my dad's unit in Vietnam). If you'd like one for a special manly cook in your life, drop me an email.
I found the scamp, trying to hide among our Army manuals...silly boy!
